Temporary Closure:

A Message from Pastor Weaver on COVID-1

Dear Atherton Church Family,
We are so thankful for the steady presence of Jesus that calms our fears during a time when we feel painfully aware of the fragility of life. We have been praying for wisdom to lead God’s people lovingly and decisively, without being reactionary, in a situation that is escalating. As we’ve monitored the situation with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, we have worked diligently to follow Governor Gavin Newsom’s guidelines for mass gatherings in order to slow the spread of the virus, discouraging gatherings of more than 10 people in one place and encouraging healthy social distance. We respect and honor those guidelines. We believe our priority in this season is to provide a church experience, while promoting the health and well-being of our staff and congregation. In doing so, we have partnered with local health and government officials to follow their instructions and make every effort to contain this virus.

Temporary Closure

In response to local guidelines, we have CANCELLED ALL IN-PERSON SERVICES, BIBLE STUDIES, BIBLE ENRICHMENT CLASSES, AND OTHER MINISTRY EVENTS THROUGH January 8, 2022 at the Atherton Church Campus.

Live-Streaming Available

We will continue to provide LIVE STREAMING for our 8 a. m. service. Let’s gather together online, trusting that we will connect with God through worship and be inspired by His Word.
To view the live service, go to https://www.athertonbc.org/live-stream/ — to view past services, go to https://www.athertonbc.org/media/ to see past services and this Sunday’s service after its completion. You can also join us for weekly Bible Studies with Pastor Weaver via Zoom & Facebook.
NOTE: We will keep you informed about changes to services and the status of church services through email, social media, the website, and the church office.

Whether you worship on your phone, tablet, iPad or TV, we want to remain faithful to our financial commitments and obligations. We have always recognized that giving is as much part of worship as the Word and our songs of praise. There are several ways you can do so.
During this unique season, your support of our ministry through tithes and offerings, can be mailed to our Atherton Baptist Church Business Office at 2627 West 116th Street, Hawthorne, CA 90250. Please remember to include your first and last name, as well as your mailing address and mobile phone number, so we can allocate your donation accurately.
Additionally, for your convenience, you can also use our electronic giving platform or the Givelify app on your phone.

Event Rescheduling

We will reschedule some Ministry events and workshops that are not absolutely necessary until further notice. Below is a list of events and workshops that are postponed:
  • Men’s Ministry: Dinner & Movie Night
  • New Beginnings Ministry: New Members Breakfast
  • Church Outing: New Mt. Calvary M.B.C.
  • Scholarship Ministry: Golf Field Trip

Maintaining Faith

Remember what 2 Timothy 1:7 NCV says: “God did not give us a spirit that makes us afraid, but a spirit of power and love and self-control.”
May this promise resonate inside of you louder and louder as we walk through this season as a church family. Thank you for your flexibility, prayers and cooperation as we take these steps together.
