Worship Services

What are worship services like?

Our worship services are characterized by a profound desire to praise God and let Him know how we feel about Him. At Atherton, we believe the worship experience is central to the full expression of our faith in God and our appreciation for Him. Consequently, you will enjoy Spirit-filled vocal and instrumental music by our praise teams, choirs and band in a variety of musical styles– from the lofty hymns of yesteryear to the eclectic, uplifting, contemporary innovations of gospel music today. At certain times, we also feature our liturgical praise dancers worshipping in a variety of dynamic, choreographed selections.
You will always have the opportunity to worship in prayer and present your petitions to God in a corporate altar prayer led by one of our pastoral staff.
The worship encounter is perpetually enhanced and fortified by the living Word of God as it is preached every Sunday by our Senior Pastor, Larry D. Weaver. You will not leave our doors without a Word from the Lord that will help empower your Christian walk.

What do I need to bring?

Many members and guests find it is easier and more fulfilling to participate in the worship experience when they have their own copy of the Bible with them. This allows them to underline or highlight particular verses and jot down key points in the sermon for later study. During the sermon, specific Bible verses are displayed on our overhead screens for those who do not have a Bible with them and for those who may carry a different translation. We also provide Bibles in our pews for all.
If you prefer to take simple notes, a page is provided in our church bulletin with spaces and margins for personal thoughts and references. For other Bible study times, you may prefer to bring a notepad and pen for taking notes.
CD’s and DVD’s of all services are available for purchase immediately after service in our Resource Center. You may also contact our Resource Center Monday-Saturday, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Phone: (323)-757-3113, ext. 100.
